what a night last night, indeed!
we played with behold... the arctopus, time of orchids, and genghis tron. what a wonderful time it was. lots of fretboard tapping, lots of incredible talent, tons of shredding. we cant express how honored we were to play with such amazing bands and as we found, amazing people. we are working on some august shows and a possible east coast week long tour with the GLITTER PALS (genghis tron side project) so keep your eyes peeled for info on that. in the meantime...

those were the most incredible four days of my entire life.
and here is the play by play of everything.
let the jealousy begin.
friday march 18, 2005 ... day 1
so around 12, i made my way up north to madison. got the word from adam right after i hit i-39 that he was in his car and would be on his way shortly. wce was roughly 1.5 hours behind me coming from st louis. around 4pm, i reached madison and walked a bit around state street for a while before wce got there just after 5 ... where then we had to walk many blocks across town to get there van back to the right place. loaded everything up, and then was told that we'd be headlining bump n grind 2005. saw banooter, kristin, chad, and jordan came out for the show ... its great seeing friends make a trek to support. adam drove like a champ and got there right at 8 and we set up our insanely packed merch table. fuxxx we had so much merch all weekend ... 8 bands total played madison, but i can't remember one of their names. sorry !
midget parade ... drum machine death grind.
a scanner darkly ... brutal noisey sludge metal, like old man gloom.
plague bringer ... drum machine death metal.
uncle bob drives a combine ... spazzed out electrogrind. super party time.
tower of rome ... crazy ass grind. super nice guys, fuxxxin intense show.
i have no idea why we played after tower of rome ... but we did, and everything went really well. everything sounded great, ibah didn't miss a beat, and i think i even heard some sing-a-longs. the pa was super noisey, but adam said the guitar player from uncle bob compared us to atomsmasher. which is totally sick. meant to have dinner with the tower of rome guys, but it took us a while to figure out our parking situation because there weren't any free spots available ... i had to snag a meter. and we got to pizza di roma after they left. still had a great meal ... watched ted piss off a piece of bacon and attack his face. got back to ambrosia [venue / co-op house] around 2:30 and figured out our sleeping arrangements about half an hour later. me, adam n kevin slept in a nice gent named matt's room while ted, aj, and matt took the futons in the living room 3 floors below ... didn't manage to get to sleep till around 4-ish.

saturday march 19, 2005 ... day 2
adam got up at 7, and so did i. managed to get my van completely loaded and relocationed to a free parking spot before 8 [DAMN WE'RE EFFICIENT], then walked around state street getting exercise till 9, where we made our way to breakfast at jamba juice. i pretended to be french. it was really cold and slushy in wisconsin ... but adam was jerkin off over his wool socks. went record shopping when exclusive opened up. surprisingly, we only spent an hour in there ... adam usually finds a way to look at records for a fortnight. HA! the day before, i bought sleepytime gorilla museum "grand opening and closing" ... but today, i got battles "ep c" and tusk "tree of no return". i wish record stores around st louis had good music, then again, i also wish st louis had good people like wisconsin. walked around a bit & met wce in exclusive around 12. adam wanted noodles, so he went to earwax while me n wce ate chin's. man, that mongolian stir fry was good. adam traded a ton of stuff at earwax, and we continued our travels around the seemingly everlasting state street. left madison around 3:45 to make our way to milwaukee, and adam lead the way like a fuxxxin madman all the way there. got to the shorewood legion hall a lil bit after 5 and hung out watching anchorman on aj's sweet portable dvd player till people started showin up. banooter n kristin came to this show too, accompanied by seth and alicia, as well. the lineup at this show was even better than madison, probably the best show of tour ...
murder of crows ... heavy, muddy thrash.
render by phrase ... high end noodly tech meets epic synth indie. fuxxxin awesome.
paige marshall ... detailed, intricate screamo.
wce's set was seriously the most fuxxxin insane show ever. kids were megathrashin all over the place, taking their clothes off, and just havin a great time. they even tore the place down when xMONSTER BLITZx showed up. ted managed to double tap dash a good 20 feet in two seconds, only to continue being brutal. three people stood out in milwaukee because of their absolute awesomeness ... mikey dots, angela, and kevin demars. mikey dots sang in paige marshall, angela was awesome enough to let us sleep in her apartment, and kevin demars had an absolutely incredible beard. we'll get back to them in a sec. the entire show was awesome and everyone we talked to was even more awesome than the show itself. we partied so hard it was off the charts ... holding contests and playing games to win merch, making everyone scream when they heard the secret word ["bananas"]. i love you milwaukee. mikey dots hung out with us all night and slept over at angelas ... but first, we topped off the night in the best pizza place in milwaukee ... pizza shuttle. the place was crammed like a motherfuxxxer, but we managed to have a blast none the less. they called our number and all 8 of us screamed the tour slogan ... SPRING BREAK 2K5 !! we also had the best playlist ever on the e-jukebox thing. you could download songs and play 'em ...

we went back to angelas ... who was then dubbed the title LADY BANAGELA OF LAKE MICHIGAN. her awesome roommate trisha was a major trooper and hung out with us too, even though she had to be up for work at 7. we left her a note telling her to bellyflop us in the morning ... but she was too tired and had to make it out as soon as she could.
that note was mostly thanks to mikey dots and his incredibleness. "why do you call him mikey dots ?" you ask ? ... i'll tell you. we were watching hudson hawk, because banagela had never seen it. four of the characters are agents working for the cia, and they have codenames after candy bars. so mikey says "ya know, if i had a code name after a candy ... it'd be dots." and that was that. i don't think livejournal has enough space to continue the awesomeness that came out of mikey dots' mouth. mikey dots ... we love you. somewhere along that night, this was said as well ...
everyone was changing into sleepytime gear, and aj was in his boxers with his hands down the back ...
ted to aj ... "are you playing with your buttcheeks ?"
aj to ted, immediately and defensively ... "yeah, because its awesome !"
i fell asleep around 4, even though everyone was throwing pillows at me.

sunday march 20, 2005 ... day 3
woke up early ... again. sat around for a bit till everyone got up, then went for coffee at a local place just a block away. had sprechers n apple danish for breakfast, and decided instead of going out for food with kevin demars, we'd go get groceries so adam could cook enchiladas. had a good solid hangout at banagela's eating vegetarian enchiladas watching family guy. banagela got called into work at 3 which was a crock of shit ... so us n kevin demars went drivin around lookin for earwax. but managed to get lost. we did, however find a value village ... and just had a good time drivin around. scott n kristin were on there way to wonder lake, which was super awesome ... except that the show in wonder lake ended up falling through, and adam called around to friends farther north to see about any shows goin down. we managed to hop on a pop punk show in appleton ... headlining no less. soooooooooooooo ... met banooter n kristin at atomic records in milwaukee, and went to pick up banagela from the mall. started the trek to appleton roughly 6:20 ... and got there just before 8. the club was shite and whiney ... we had to sign some contract saying we wouldn't curse on stage, because apparantly Jesus will kill you if you do. most of the people there managed to leave after the last local band, but all of the hardcore oshkosh kids were there and threw down during both of our sets. wce made sure everyone got involved in party fun during our set ... playing red rover, chasing eachother, picking us up on their shoulders. egads it was awesome. went to perkins afterwards with a party of 13 and had a fantastic winding down. we also had the best server EVER ... liz, wherever you are ... i love you because you're awesome. stayed with a wonderful gent named joe in his awesome house. but i fell asleep somewhere around 2. actually, i blacked out around 2. tired doesn't even describe it.

monday march 21, 2005 ... day 4
got up n on our way around 9-ish. me n adam took care of the banana bread my mom gave me before we left for breakfast, said goodbye to joe, and headed to copps. we had to stock up on sprechers before we left. adam hung back in oshkosh to see his family, but me, wce, and the newly proclaimed LADY BANORANGULA STARFRUITSKIWI OF LAKE MICHIGAN headed back to milwaukee. we had pizza shuttle ... again ... and sadly departed from lady banorangula.
lady banorangula ... we can't thank you enough for your hospitality. we all love you dearly.
adam was already further along 94, so he just stopped at a truck stop along the way till we got there so we could train back up. and we headed through the pits of hell, otherwise known as chicago. i hate chicago. i hate chicago. i hate chicago. fuxxx that city i'm never going there ever again. thank God we got out of there as quick as we did. even with the loss of the hour, got to indianapolis right at 6. met karl and ben who lived at the house [the secret location] and talked to karl for a bit ... i bought stuff from the band he's in, melk the g6-49. people started showin up around 7-ish, and everyone here was just as awesome as wisconsin. it wasn't as hyper and crazy ... but everyone was just ready to rock and have fun. upon reflection, i really hate living here ... but that reflection was reflected upon even more by karl. he said "yeah, it may suck where you're from ... but you gotta have a place to hate so you have a reason to go on tour." too absolutely true. a man of wise words, that karl is. the show here was probably the best of tour as far as bands go ... its a toss up between milwaukee and indianapolis.
you will die ... awesome, intense driving instrumental metal.
black arrows of filth and impurity ... absolutely brutal noisey grind. unfuxxxinbelieveable.
the most overwhelming thing i've experienced in the music world was the generosity of the people in indianapolis. several guys handed us money without even counting and said "uhh ... just gimme a t-shirt and keep the rest" ... when they handed us $20 or more. we said fuxxx that and gave 'em one of everything we had. its still overwhelming just to think about it. we lounged around for a bit after the show ... kevin n aj made me drive to get 'em some liquor. watched big trouble in little china and went to bed at 2. a good mellow evening to the most party filled weekend i've ever experienced.

tuesday march 22, 2005 ... aftermath
me n adam woke up at 8 because he had to get back to toledo for work. i sat around and watched family guy till karl got home and he told me how to get to some thrift stores. i went on an adventure while everyone else slept, but got back in time to make it to this awesome cajun place for lunch. scott from you will die hooked us up awesomely and had a great meal to end the trip. karl parted to head back to class, and then i parted from wce who made their way to toledo to pick up adam before detroit.
a list of people to thank for such an awesome time ... and i greatly apologize for leaving anyone out. please tell me who i missed and call me an asshole for it.

this one girl was standin outside of everyone, screaming "kill him !!" ...
but she was cooking lentil casserole.
so, after ahout four or five minutes, i walked away from that alley with about 22 hearts in my backpack.
the only one i didn't take was the girl cooking lentils.
she just exploded ... i looked at her, them boom ... explosion.
so i went home ate lentil casserole and drank a cool, refreshing cherry coke.
to celebrate.
i remembered the face of my father.

while we're on the subject of punk rock... what's so punk about "productions" companies? do these people actually have a business license? do they claim the money they're essentially stealing from bands on their taxes? this is my current pet peeve in the music industry (aside from bands who think they are rock stars), people who claim to be DIY, but trying to be business oriented and make money putting on shows. i understand a lot of people think that because it's taking up their time, and they're doing 'work' they should be reimbursed for it. i say that's the biggest pile of bullhonket i've ever heard. if you think doing anything 'DIY' is 'work.' then i pray you move out of your parents house, get a real job, and understand what work is. DIY is not for making money, it's for helping bands, and enjoying life. there's my rant for the day... and to end on a positive note, here is an awesome picture christopher found:
